Scot held in India accused of aiding terrorist fight

A Scotsman was arrested by Indian police yesterday after he was accused of helping terrorists in a remote mountain province to wage a guerrilla war against the New Delhi government.

Edinburgh-born David Ward, 41, a convicted bank robber who once escaped from a UK prison, was taken into custody in the isolated mountain state of Nagaland, northern India, during a routine roadcheck by the police and military.
